This week Stephen Thomas, College of Natural Science, will present “Teaching a MOOC” at the Instructional Technology Brown Bag Seminar series.
TIME: Friday, November 15 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
PLACE: Room 105 Natural Science Building.
Stephen will discuss his experiences in the production and teaching of the Foundations of Science Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) offered through the Center for Integrative Studies in General Science. He will also present preliminary results on demographics, learning gains, and student ratings. Additionally, he will discuss the lessons learned from this first offering and directions for future iterations. This session will be of particular interest to faculty who are interested in offering a MOOC, and for individuals interested in the role of MOOCs in higher education.
